Central Garden & Pet (CENT) on Tuesday reported fiscal Q4 non-GAAP EPS of $0.04 compared with $0.10 a year earlier, and missing the estimate of $0.17 EPS estimated by analysts polled by Capital IQ.

Net sales for the quarter ended Sept. 28 totaled $540.7 million, up from $502.3 million and above the Capital IQ estimate of $521 million.

For fiscal Q1 2020, the company expects a loss of $0.10 to $0.15 per share. It also said it projects diluted EPS for fiscal 2020 to be at or modestly above its fiscal 2019 results as it expects increased demand creation spending and continuing challenges in its animal health businesses. The Street view for Q1 is a profit of $0.05 per share on a non-GAAP basis and $0.07 per share on a GAAP basis.
